Brazil defeated Argentina in the Copa America 2019 semifinals…

Big-rivals Brazil and Argentina are poised to fight in the Copa America 2021 final on Sunday morning at the historic Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Argentina has won 46 of the 111 previous meetings between the two Latin American heavyweights, while Brazil has won 40 and the remaining 25 have resulted in a tie.

The last time these two teams met was in a Superclasico de las Americas match in November of 2019. Lionel Messi scored the game-winning goal for La Albiceleste.

However, the last time they met in a major international tournament was in the Copa America 2019 semifinal, which Brazil won 2-0.

Even though Argentina has the advantage in overall head-to-head records, Brazil has remained unbeaten in the last five meetings in key international events. It should be remembered that all five matches were part of the Copa America.
